The Hon. Wally Oppal and other high-profile leadership men from across BC came together to speak out about violence against women in this new film that was launched on April 25th. The film combines news footage from recent cases of domestic violence homicides in BC with short interviews about the importance of men speaking to other men to challenge societal attitudes about violence against women. The BC Association of Specialized Victim Assistance and Counselling Programs  produced this DVD and is a partner of the "We Can " Coalition. Many members were present to show support.

WE CAN at Surrey Vasaikhi Festival

The "We Can" Coalition joined the South Asian Community at one of the
largest events of the year in the City of Surrey at the Annual Vaisakhi
Parade on April 12, 2008. Vaisakhi celebrates the birth of the Sikh
identity which was created in 1699.  It also marks the beginning of the
harvest season in the Sikh calendar.  The parade is for everyone and
this year drew a  crowd in excess of 100,000 people.  The public came
out to watch the parade and enjoyed  free food along the route.  "We Can" volunteers had the opportunity to reach out to the masses with the
