Women Transforming Cities Launch

Women Transforming Cities is a new grassroots non-profit organization that empowers women and girls to make positive changes in their communities.  They are having their offical launch on May 24, 2021 and you're invited. Everyone is welcome and registration is free. Register here.

Women Transforming Cities brings together women from various backgrounds who want to design a city that is ideal for women and girls by applying an equity lens.  Speakers at the launch will discuss issues regarding urban safety, housing and homelessness, health and poverty alleviation.

The launch will be attended by  Vancouver City Councillor Andrea ReimerMLA and Deputy Speaker of the Legislature Linda Reid,  Jen Sung from Out in Schools and special presentations from Catherine Murrary – SFU Chair of the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies,  Ellen Woodsworth – founder of Women Transforming Cities, Lorrie William City of New Westminister City Councillor and a member of the FCM Standing Women’s Committee and the Raging Grannies.

Featured speakers include:
Penny Gurstein--UBC School of Community and Regional Planning
Melanie Matining--Girls Action Foundation
Christine Smith--Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Services Society

They will also be annoucing the  Women Transforming Cities Best Practices Award.

Doors open at 5:30pm at Vancouver City Hall
